The Courses

18-Hole Course

The course is built on a substrate of glacial sands, providing classic moorland fairways which drain freely and are playable all year. No expense has been spared to ensure the Head Greenkeeper, Jim Lyon, has the most modern equipment. This, coupled with his skill and knowledge, ensures the course is always presented in excellent condition.

The layout is tough but fair. It is an ideal length and difficulty to challenge the best golfers, yet also hugely rewarding for the average player, not least because of the sheer pleasure of playing a great course in a glorious natural moorland setting surrounded by inspirational scenery.

The 6428 yard, par 70 layout provides a rewarding challenge to golfers of all abilities and has been host to the R&A on 11 occasions as a regional pre-qualifying venue for the Open Championship. The course has hosted the British Girls' Championship in 2005, the Scottish Girls' Championship in 2009, the Scottish Youth Championship in 2013 and it is a frequent PGA Tartan Tour venue. The Girls' Home Internationals will be played here in 2015, followed by the Scottish Boys' Stoke Play Championships in 2016.

The superb quality of Lanark’s greens is praised by all who play the course. They are large, undulating, smooth and fast and are simply a joy to putt on.

Many well-known golfers rate Lanark very highly. Tony Jacklin is an honorary member and Ronan Rafferty, respected commentator and former Ryder Cup player, is a frequent visitor. Ronan comments that the course has "some of the finest greens and best views you will find in Scotland." This view is echoed by Colin Dalgleish, the former GB&I Walker Cup Captain, who said that "Lanark Golf Club is justly proud of its fine layout and great greens. It also offers spectacular views plus a warm welcome and I recommend it highly to any visiting golfer".

9-Hole Course

The 9 hole course or “Wee Course” consists of 9 par 3 holes, varying in length from 75 yards to 233 yards. It is perfect for juniors and one of the main reasons that Lanark has such a vibrant Junior Section, allowing boys and girls to hone their skills at an early age before progressing to the 18 hole course.
